Throughout an interview with Lipps Service, Motley Crue guitarist John 5 mentioned his onstage combat with Marilyn Manson in 2003 on the Rock Am Ring Competition and confirmed as soon as and for all that it was not staged or an act.
“My dad was dying,” John 5 recalled. “He was very ailing, and I used to be working. And I went all the way down to the underside of the steps after I bought off stage, and Tony, the supervisor, stated, ‘You need to name your sister.’ My sister, Mary. And I stated, ‘My dad died, proper?’ He was like, ‘Simply name Mary.’ I’m going, ‘My dad died, proper?’ Simply type of getting ready myself. He goes, ‘Simply name dwelling.’”
“So I name, and she or he’s crying hysterically. I’m like, ‘Dad died?’ She goes, ‘Lynn died,’ and that was my different sister. And I used to be like, ‘What?!’ I used to be, like, actually in a state of shock. I do not know what was happening.”
The stunning information deeply affected the guitarist and instantly spilled over into his private {and professional} life.
“So I didn’t sleep for… Now, it sounds exhausting to imagine, however I didn’t sleep for, like, six, seven days. And I did all the pieces in my energy to sleep. I might take sleeping tablets, all the pieces. Nothing affected me.”
“After which Manson bumps into me or hits me. However that occurred each evening. And dude, I’m telling you, I snapped. I don’t even keep in mind it, and it was so unprofessional on my half, and I felt so dangerous about it.”
