Richmond, VA noise rock fanatics Prayer Group have chosen an obscure format for his or her newest mini-album launch, Strawberry, going with a vinyl 10″ file to comprise their seven songs of musical abrasion. Strawberry is suitably adorned with an equally weird cowl—a tot topped with a berry for a head, that’s undoubtedly not a strawberry—that may be a good illustration of the quartet’s tension-filled, skronky rock. Followers of Massive Black and ’90s AmRep sludge will discover loads to love right here, as Prayer Group—Matt Voegel (vocals), Nate Dominy (guitar), Anthony Stout (drums), Carl Kranz (bass/ vocals)—do their finest to disturb and harm with their sonic sturm und drang.
Strawberry was recorded by guitarist Dominy at Room 2B (with drums and a few bass tracked with Ricky Olson at The Ward).
