“After I wrote ‘One other Life,’ I used to be serious about all of the lives we feature,” Shakes vocalist and guitarist Brittany Howard shared in a press release. “Those we’re residing proper now, those that slipped away due to totally different selections, the what ifs, the what wasn’t meant to be, the goodbyes, and the prospect encounters that really feel divine. This track is about these threads and the way they stretch throughout time and area, connecting each model of who we’re. A collective story that by no means stops unfolding. I’m glad we opened this door into this actuality of us making music collectively once more.”
Alabama Shakes—the trio of Howard, Heath Fogg, and Zac Cockrell—went on official hiatus in 2018. Since then, Howard has launched two solo albums below her personal identify: 2019’s Jaime and 2023’s What Now.
