Full EP Stream: Dejecter – “Oblation Husk”

Typically you realize a band kicks ass inside the first minute of listening. That’s just about what occurred once I began listening to “Fiends,” the primary tune off the brand new EP from Dejecter. God rattling, these vocals are deep and devastating, and people riffs are so catchy! There’s quite a bit occurring right here sonically, because the band’s sound remembers every thing from Crowbar to The Acacia Pressure to Vader and all shades of lethal noise in between. Or a minimum of that’s what I get out of their self-styled model as “progressive sludge/grind.”

No matter the way you classify them, Josh Caldwell (guitars, bass, keyboards), Silas Olson (vocals and lyrics) and Sean Rehmer (drums and percussion) has put collectively a captivating mixture of easy brutality and efficient risk-taking and creativity. There’s sections of synchronized chugging and double bass, slower and doomy moments, and components that catch you completely off-guard. I particularly like how the band makes use of the piano so as to add additional layers of environment at a number of factors. It’s a completely rewarding pay attention. And for that cause, Decibel is proud to current Oblation Husk in its full energy and glory beneath. The EP will see an unbiased launch tomorrow.
