London-based artist Ripsime succeeds with an atmospheric electro-pop balladry on “Shamanic Religion,” whose dazzling manufacturing reminds fondly of Little Dragon’s lushest works. Ripsime describes the discharge as channeling “my frustration over the shortage of real understanding from these round me and grapples with the resilience I really feel I’ve misplaced.”
Spacey synth pulses and slight backing percussion builds into radiant organs and dreamy wordless vocals; the momentum from the beginning is palpable. “I hope you make it,” the opening vocals entice, complemented there by a suave bass drive and illuminated synth entrancement. “I’m uninterested in dancing at midnight,” Ripsime continues, lamenting on a way of solitude and the following “I misplaced shamanic religion,” chorus.
Playful guitar jangles enter thereafter as a number of vocal layers work together with contagious immersion. The mixing of guitars, synth, and soulful vocal vibes lead to a hypnotic, replay-inducing appeal. Full of fashionable ambiance and heartfelt ruminations, “Shamanic Religion” is one other standout from Ripsime, who has caught our ears prior to now with releases just like the Capsule I: Depraved & Sensible EP and the observe “Paradise.”
