JAZZHOLE • MOONLIGHT MILE – IndiePulse Music Journal


Whereas the acid jazz motion kicked off in London golf equipment through the mid ’80s, that phenomenon of blending jazz and hip-hop ultimately reached Stateside by the early ’90s. Some of the musically artistic teams to emerge on the scene in 1994 was Jazzhole, an evolving collective of lots of New York’s most achieved reside and studio musicians. Whereas Jazzhole’s roster has modified since their self-titled debut, the band’s core songwriting and manufacturing trio Warren Rosenstein, Marlon Saunders, and John Pondel has not.

Jazzhole’s present launch, Moonlight Mile, was the end result of a street journey that began in Woodstock, making stops in NYC and Nashville, and ended up in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Peter Levin (Greg Allman, Blind Boys of Alabama) joined Jazzhole bassist David Inniss and drummer Mark Robohm in monitoring at Fame Studios, whereas trumpet legend Randy Brecker and tabla grasp Prabhu Edouard added overdubs from distant places.

The First Single Video for  “Love…Life…” is on YouTube – 

“Love…Life…” is the most recent launch from soul jazz hip hop pioneers, Jazzhole.  The video options Lord KCB – longtime Jazzhole rapper and former member of US3.

Love…Life… is the journey of seeing the optimistic in a world that’s typically difficult. The video was shot in black and white, juxtaposing photographs of NYC and seashores in St. Petersburg. The video consists of footage of band members Marlon Saunders, Mark Robohm and David Inniss, in addition to visitor tabla participant, Prabhu Edouard, pianist Kevin DiSimone and vibes participant, Isaiah Rosenstein.

Love…Life… blends collectively components of hip hop, Sixties jazz and world music, with tabla grasp taking part in and in addition lending a vocal layer to the monitor. The sound is rounded out by DiSimone’s muted trumpet, a Jazzhole calling card from their acid jazz days.

Director Maria Niro (@ismarianiro)  identified for her revolutionary artwork movies and documentaries, bringing a cinematic perspective to the music video artform. Keep tuned for extra work from Niro, as she additionally directed the following single slotted for launch, the title monitor from Moonlight Mile, Jazzhole’s seventh studio launch.
